The Partnership Behind the Vision

This whitepaper is the product of an unprecedented collaboration between Indonesia’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the national Ministry of Health — two institutions that rarely co-author a single publication.

What brought them together is a shared conviction: that improving the health of Indonesians is inseparable from the work of building a stronger, more competitive nation. Health is not only a public responsibility, nor solely an economic concern, it is a shared national priority that demands coordinated action across sectors.

With analytical insights from IQVIA; expert development perspectives from the World Bank; and the invaluable contributions of government ministries, industry associations, academic institutions, healthcare organisations, and individual experts across Indonesia who gave their time, data, and knowledge to make this publication possible.

Foreword

Government Leadership

Budi G. Sadikin

Minister of Health Republic of Indonesia

Building a strong nation begins with ensuring the health of our people. The links between health, wellbeing, and economic growth are clear: healthier citizens are more productive, and stronger health systems stimulate broader development. Investing in health is therefore not only a social priority but also a strategic driver of Indonesia’s economic future.

Business Leadership

Anindya Novyan Bakrie

Chairman Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN Indonesia)

When we speak about Indonesia’s future, we often begin with infrastructure, digitalization, or energy transition. Yet there is one enabler that quietly underpins all of these ambitions: the health of our people and the strength of our health system. From the vantage point of the business community, we experience firsthand how health shapes absenteeism, productivity, innovation capacity, and system confidence.
